One Bag, One Week: Is It Possible?

Everyone says it can be done — a full week away with nothing but one bag. We wanted to actually test it, not just repeat the idea.

So we built a real one-bag capsule using the Shop the Kei formula and tracked what worked, what didn't, and what it actually takes to make one bag carry a full week of travel.

The Setup

One carry-on-sized bag. Seven days. A trip with both daytime activity and a couple of evenings out. No "just in case" pieces allowed.

What Made It Possible

Every Piece Had to Pair With at Least Three Others

The rule that made the whole experiment work: nothing went in the bag unless it could be restyled into multiple outfits. A single-use piece was the first thing cut.

Two Anchor Pieces Did Most of the Work

A maxi dress and a jumpsuit carried the majority of the week between them — dressed up, dressed down, layered, and layered again.

Isla Summer Dress — anchor one, dressed up or downWildflower Romper — anchor two, effortless day to evening

Fabric Mattered More Than We Expected

Pieces that resisted wrinkling and dried quickly meant less time spent managing the wardrobe and more time actually on the trip.

What We'd Do Differently

One pair of shoes for a full week asked a lot of our feet by day five. A second, lighter pair is worth packing next time — proof that even a tested formula still gets refined with real use.

So, Is It Possible?

Yes — with the right pieces and a plan that treats every item as multi-purpose from the start. One bag doesn't mean fewer outfits. It means every piece has to earn its place.

Ready to try it yourself? Start with pieces built to multiply — our Getaway Collection is designed with exactly this kind of versatility in mind.
