"Oooh, I want those outdoors feels inside my home BUT Im afraid I'll kill my house plants. Help!"
I know the feeling and after years of killing plants, I was beginning to think maybe this just is not my thing. Then I discovered that the plants I was choosing simply were not meant to thrive in my space. Either I had very little time to care for them, over watered them, barely fertilized them, or I placed them in the wrong corners of my home. So... perhaps you have the same issues I had (and sometimes still have) but to help you on your plant parenthood journey, Im sharing my list of the easiest indoor plants that actually love living with my family.
Mama's list of the easiest indoor plants:

Water: Every 3 weeks *always let soil dry up before watering
Fertilize: Every 40 days *fertilizer for green plants

Our family of 10 included 2 lap children and its large size made travel accommodations difficult but we made it work. Im sharing the 10 must have items that helped make all of it more bearable. Travel better prepared for 10 hour flights with mama's travel essentials
Most of us were vaccinated before flying but it is not required.
Hawaii is very serious about preventing the spread of COVID-19 and makes specific precautions. We all still needed to get nose swabbed and provide proof of our negative test. Walgreens conveniently swabbed our entire group days before the flight and emailed our results within the hour.
Hawaii is US territory so you wont need passports. I like to travel with my family's passports in one travel case instead of fishing for individual IDs at check-in and TSA.
Face masks are still required on flights. Make sure yours is comfortable enough for the long use.
For up-to-date news on COVID-19 precautions and air travel, check with the CDC and your airline.
Some airlines are different but generally, each passenger is allowed 2 carry ons. After flying with 1 kid and 1 baby, my husband and I looked like broken wind chimes dragging 8 carry ons down the airplane aisle (so not cool). I wish I had just one bag to fit my things along with the kids travel necessities. This Carry on travel bag is definitely one of mama's travel essentials.

The next time I travel to Hawaii, Im flying first class and non-stop, red eye. Sitting in coach with a 15 month old lap child and a 1hr layover is a joke. The layover only helped provide some time for mini to run and stretch (which means mama was running after mini for that hour)

Guests are discouraged from congregating in any particular area for long. Masks are necessary. Throughout the zoo, guests are directed to enter areas in only one direction and exit far from entry points. I must say however, some areas were difficult to manage with a stroller (or for handicap) since ramps were at times not accessible but Robert helped carry baby Leila.
Our girls both really enjoyed the zoo animals. For Nyaeli especially, she was infatuated with how real and close the animals were to her. After the zoo, and just outside the zoo's back yard we ventured off to one of Essex County's 22 parks. There Nyaeli was WOWed by the large pirate ships at the beautiful Regatta Playground tucked into the trees just across the lake.
Besides the playground, families can also enjoy paddle boating, fishing, an outdoor picnic area, dine at a Waterside Restaurant or recline at the many outdoor loungers spread throughout the park.

]]>My sister is pregnant and Im the God Mom! We are so excited to bless and celebrate Kaira's little bundle on the way. Today, I share the most beautiful moments of her boho baby shower.
I had so much fun creating the nature baby shower that Kaira wanted. There were some challenges finding all the materials because mama vision was very specific but I loved taking on the challenge and exceeding what Kaira hoped for. Take a look at Kaira's Boho Baby Shower
Kaira's overall lifestyle is nomadic, natural, and low key. She loves the color green, cacti, and without a doubt knew her baby shower would embody that natural and fresh vibe.
With the remaining yarn from Kaira's top, I decorated the chandelier with handmade tassels and dressed the top with winding vines.
Kaira bought frames she liked to later decorate baby's room with and we used them as sign holders. Even the raffle box became resurfaced in cactus printed craft paper.
We covered one ugly table with an ivory table cloth from Christmas Tree Shops and I dressed it up by weaving natural colored wool yarn through the border and tied large tassels to each corner.
The other ugly table was covered with a cheap plastic gold table cover, lots of foliage, and was finally disguised as the drink and dessert table.
We served food on various sized wood carving boards and decorated the tables with more faux foliage, actual house plants, and some faux house plants adding height and lots of texture.
SIDE NOTE: Her mini succulent favors were so adorable and even guests who otherwise had no green thumb seemed interested enough to give them a new home. Kaira says these succulents are easy to care for as long as you have an indoor space with consistent amount of natural light and water only when needed. I have three myself and they are growing really well with very little care on my part.
The week before her boho baby shower, Kaira asked me to create a crochet crop top for her to wear. I searched my office and found a few balls of cotton yarn and although I crochet as a hobby, Ive never made this pattern before. So I started learning how to crochet squares for her top. After a few tries, I was able to create the 9 squares in one night. Days before the boho baby shower, we made necessary fit adjustments and Kaira's crochet top was ready to wear.
Kaira wore the handmade crochet crop top with her elegant jersey knit skirt, leaf halo, and flat sandals. She truly embodies Mother Nature on a casual day.
It's important I mention that as a COVID precaution, only immediate family members were allowed into the house for the boho baby shower. Sadly friends and extended family were not allowed indoors but we tried to bring party of the party outside. Originally, Kaira wanted the balloons outside but the suckers would not stick to the house! Command hooks did not work, tape would not work, without drilling holes into the house, the wind kept ripping the balloon arch apart. So the surviving balloons were moved indoors flanked the stairway as a boho baby shower backdrop.

It's no surprise kids love water. Since the pandemic began, Nyaeli's swim classes are suspended so we wanted to get her near the water without the beach crowds. We packed a small cooler with lunch and drove to the nearest lake where we rented a paddle boat. Nyaeli was intrigued by the mechanics of the paddles and loved the challenge of pushing through the water using her tiny leg muscles (BONUS: paddling tired her out). Daddy and I took over as we paddled out to the middle of the lake under the shade of trees and had our little picnic. Nyaeli saw frogs, dragonflies, large tree roots, algae on water, and different birds.
TIP: make sure mini goes potty BEFORE getting on the paddle boat. Docking takes longer than expected.
I was totally against going to the beach but I didn't dare say "no" to my husband and toddler who are practically mer-people trapped in human form. They are all about that salt life - the beach, waves, sand, and surfing. How do townies beach? Townies pick a spot on the water just shy on the flags which means lifeguard doesn't allow us to swim in the water but we can splash with the little ones close to shore and away from rocks. Daddy signed up for personal surf lessons and his classes were at odd times when crowds were more likely at work than the beach.
TIP: Even though we were outside, we kept our masks on until we settled into our spot on the beach. Check with the beach before bringing a tent but they are wonderful for marking off your personal space.
I forgot how much fun outdoor mini golf was! Leila traveled with us cousins spend time together with our 4th cousin member. We stumbled on the idea to go golfing and enjoyed a quick game before baby's next nap.
TIP: Most outdoor golfing facilities should be wheel chair accessible which makes it easy to stroll along your mini.
Nyaeli missed her cousins so we hosted a painting party in the back yard. My Aunt Lyndia's brilliant idea really, she ordered little smocks and paint supplies in coordinating colors. Especially after our family loss, everyone loved seeing the girl have the afternoon together.
TIP: You can buy a kids paint kit and canvases on Amazon.
]]>How to discuss death to a child - A wave of shock and sorrow pulsated through our family. She was gone too soon.
On August 6, 2020, our family received the news that a loved one passed. My cousin Marquita was only 32 yet she was found that morning unresponsive. A wave of shock and sorrow pulsated through our family from distant cousins, to aunts and uncles and we wept hard. As I stood in utter disbelief “gone too soon”, 3 year old Nyaeli came to my side with tears in her eyes. She didn’t understand why mommy was in so much pain. Why was mommy crying?
I stood in the kitchen, mind racing “how do I express this to my baby girl? Do I make up a sad children’s story or just tell her the truth” I told the truth - from my heart. In that moment, I didn’t think about creating a fantasy story laced with sugar and sweet little character voices. I thought “how can I answer her so she knows it’s ok for mommy to cry right now and it isn’t her fault”. I expected Nyaeli to ask “why” after “why” but she listened intently and clung to me for the remainder of the day. "Crying is not weakness; it’s cleansing your spirit of pain and toxic feelings". I told her very directly that my cousin (Nyaeli's cousin’s mother) had passed away. “She died today baby and we will never again see her”.
From then on, Nyaeli held my hand and followed me around the house like a mini shadow. We sat outside together in quiet, listening to birds and blowing leaves. It was the quiet that allowed childhood memories with Marquita to begin playing in my mind like an old record. As fresh tears fell from my eyes, Nyaeli lifted her head from my lap and mirrored my sad face. She wiped my tears and hugged me saying “I’m sorry mommy”
With every trauma in our family, we usually respond taking the news head on, asking the important and not so important questions in an effort to gain full understanding. In this case, I never will understand why Marquita's life turned out the way it did. Thoughts kept filling my head in the silent moments and I could feel myself drifting from present to past and asking myself how this will effect Marquita's legacy. "How will her children grow up without their mother"? "Does the youngest know what happened"?
Plans were made for us to say with my parents and the following day. Jasmine, another member of our 5 all girl cousin group, jumped at the chance to accompany us on the 2-hour drive. What a relief! Talking through our memories and laughing off the pain with Jasmine helped make the drive bearable; at least we were together. I had cried all my tears and today felt like any other day. I was present. Nyaeli kicking the back of my seat as we played I Spy for the 2 hour journey while Leila slept in her car seat. Except it wasn't any other day; my cousin and childhood friend is gone too soon and I will never hear her big, bold laugh again.
The day of the funeral, I took the responsible route and made COVID-19 precautions to watch virtually from home. Leila slept through the entire event while Nyaeli spent most of it with her daddy. I was hurting because I couldn't be present for my other cousins who attended the funeral. It just isn't fair Marquita is gone too soon. Nyaeli found me and asked why was I crying. We spoke more after the funeral as she asked why I wore purple. “Purple is Marquita’s favorite color. When people die, it is nice to wear their favorite color or black. That is why you are wearing a black dress and mommy is wearing a purple one” “Oh. Mommy, I want to wear a purple flower in my hair too” Nyaeli wants to be included. Especially when her aunt Kaira returned from the funeral wearing a black dress and beautiful purple flower halo above her head. Nyaeli felt she was a part of something big and beautiful that grown ups appreciated.
Children want to be seen, heard, and given a chance to explore for themselves. Some may call it ‘learning the hard way’ but I see it as ‘learning their own way’. If we allow children the gift of our attention, they will become better people for it. Expect your mini to ask questions and not understand what grief is or why their parent is alone in sorrow. Talk with your mini (not to them) and let mini conduct the conversation. Hard information is best explained in pieces and when your mini is willing to listen. Sometimes, repeating your statement is all mini needs to hear and other times, mini wants another bit of information.
Healing has begun for myself and the other 4 members in our cousin group. It comes in waves but when one of us struggles with Marquita's passing, we make a way to be present so that we get through this together. Talking to the dead helps. Having this group of women, we shared so much together; they help because they feel what I feel too. Thinking about how Marquita would react actually helps me laugh and feel close to her spirit. I still cry a lot at times but my children and my business keep me preoccupied. Death is difficult and it effects us all but it does not mean we cannot grow and move on with a part of them entwined in our hearts.
I pray this article helps parents who are struggling to have this talk with their children. If you are unsure how to discuss death to a child, read this article. My condolences to your family.

Often, the different sizes and shapes make it difficult to store away in a filing cabinet. Our DIY idea is to create a kid art gallery wall at home. Scroll down for easy instructions about how we made it ourselves...
It was a rainy day so this happened first. Let mini run around, splash in puddles, and enjoy a rainy day. Afterwards, give mini a nice warm shower and a hot cocoa treat to warm up indoors. Now let's make a kids art gallery wall.
We all know kids love positive attention. Show them how proud you are of their accomplishments. You'll really be feeling a pat on the back for making it this far and being a part of your mini's fun experience. Invite all the family to view mini's beautiful art. Say "Ohh" + "Ahh", take pictures, and ask your little artist lots of questions about their colors. If you have stickers, place them on your favorite art pieces. Boost your mini's confidence! They'll feel like a star!

]]>Disclaimer: This post contains sensitive content which may include trigger words and discussions. When we are not afraid to discuss and accept our differences, no matter how uncomfortable, we can begin to heal our communities the right way.
I sometimes kid around with the idea that my husband and I are like the sun and moon in charge of nurturing our family. But today's post is about more extreme (and uncomfortable) differences.
In my personal example, I describe my opposite as a mother who does not vaccinate her 4 boys, voted for the other guy, is against same sex marriage and abortion, lives in middle America, and born into an all white family. On the surface, No. I do not love this woman but I think that I could try to love her. Although we are very different, we are mothers and there is no stronger bond than a mother and her child. With that, I can begin to love my opposite.
This exercise was very hard for me to complete. I had the worst time coming up with my opposite traits because in so doing, I risk highlighting my own personal views and alienating readers who do not agree with me. "calm TF down, people are way deeper and more open minded than Im stressing this over" We can all agree to disagree and still live on the same planet. Now that I found a glimmer of common ground with her, could we discuss our differences together?
I picture my opposite on a vast and almost endless farm with dry dirt roads leading through the woods and that creek she maybe experienced her first kiss. Her boys are likely named after their grandfathers and her husband works the land. Mrs. Opposite home schools the boys in their kitchen after morning prayers. She is a faithful churchgoer and besides her wedding ring, a golden crucifix is the only other piece of jewelry she wears. Underneath the surface, this mama prays her boys marry beautiful, loyal women who will carry on their family name; one day making her a grandma. She was born in a small town where everyone shares similar beliefs and that makes her feel at ease; a sense of tribe. Her home is large like her family which she would never admit is overwhelming because she finds comfort in her lifestyle.
I grew up in the church but as an adult, I stopped understanding the purpose of going every week. To me, religion is about your personal relationship to our faith. There seems to be holes in bible stories and actions of other churchgoers that simply do not align with the "God is Love" slogan so I stopped attending altogether. The conversation with my opposite will be challenging however, immensely valuable to my growth. Since I consider myself very openminded, I expect she would be close minded and not open to change. So she may be stubborn like me. I even looked to my astrology for the completely opposite trait of myself:
If my Mrs. Opposite is anything like TheZodiacCity.com describes, I would welcome a conversation with her. We can learn so much from our opposites if we get outside ourselves and our comforts.
Try to love your opposites
As this other person, we may have completely opposite views of this virus. We may dress differently, like different music, eat simpler type of foods, and express totally different political views. No matter how different our lives are between the actual you and the opposite you, what remains the same is you share the love with your friends and family. You would sacrifice yourself to protect your loved ones. It's near impossible to truly put ourselves in someone else's shoes; live a week in their life, experiencing the world through their eyes and mind. What we can all agree with is that we do what we do to protect our tribe. I pray that we can begin having more openminded, however uncomfortable, conversations that will allow us to paint a better understanding of others. It's ok to disagree but it is better to know whether than assume and create bias/prejudices from assumptions.
Try this exercise with your family and open up conversation about it. Learn how we can try to see past the exterior of another person and love them for their ultimate intentions.

]]>...but even Super Moms need inspiration. What inspires us moms who are innately motivational to our family? What motivates us in the middle of the night to cradle our minis without passing out mid stride? What causes our stress level for school enrollment period to be higher than prepping for our own job interview? Where do we find the patience and flexibility? When do we give ourselves the moment to reflect and receive inspiration?
I wonder how other moms are actually coping in the year 2020. All around social media, people have gathered strength in numbers I suppose because we are at a time when we feel the most weak. Banning together, "finding your tribe" and creating community never felt more important than now. But moms have a way of suffering in silence; not really expressing how they feel or talking out their struggles. For women who rely on controlling their household, having everything styled in our homes just where we need it, purchasing healthy products at the best price for our budget, and scheduling activities to keep the kids busy while maintaining mama's sanity; it doesn't always run ship shape BUT its works. Covid-19 has become a daunting conversation, almost a trigger word that has put us in a mental block. So in times like these, what inspires moms?
Ines Temple, president of LHH-DBM Peru and LHH Chile -- and author of the best-selling book Usted S.A. Empleabilidad y Marketing Personal believes that we must understand what inspires ourselves in order to inspire others.
Among other things, Ines is inspired by people who are enthusiastic about their family, and who convey their enthusiasm with good energy. "Being with people who are passionate about what they do makes me feel good, and they are an example to me. They inject their enthusiasm and prompt me to make my best efforts too."
Whatever inspires you creates a positive energy. That energy can spark something good in others. Super moms are a major source of inspiration to us all (including Ines). When super moms need inspiration, what can you do?
I am inspired by clear minded people with a vision of who they are and where they are meant to be. These people align their actions with their values; much like the way we parents raise our children. Inspire super moms by doing something that you strongly believe in. Ines says "I want to be like them, to get to where they have gotten, and follow in their footsteps to be among the winners!" Weeks after I returned to NJ, I yearned to embrace my sister and her boys. We quarantined ourselves to make that meeting possible. Now we have family dinners every Sunday and it gives us all something wonderful to look forward to.
Ever since being quarantined and the positive efforts brought on by the Black Lives Matter movement enriched our lives (cracking open a window of possibilities), I received encouraging messages from friends and family all over. These messages are a historical reminder of the year 2020 that we can stand for one another and allow love to bring us out of turmoil. Id like to inspire super moms and share this love with you here.

]]>Every Stay At Home (Working) Mom struggles with the juggle. We sacrifice enough time and energy for the goodness of bonding with our minis. The trade off, we moms are so grateful to never miss a moment with mini. On days when I am exceptionally busy, Nyaeli and I play games that keep her preoccupied and allow me to complete tasks.
Before I get in to the best hiding spots, here's a list of games/activities that keep my toddler busy indoors:
The 1st way is more like a memory game. Place 5 or more friends in separate tall bags. Show mini what is inside each bag, then shuffle them. Have mini guess where her fluffy friends are.
2nd way we play is by mama hiding friends around the house and mini finding each friend. It takes about 20 seconds to set up for (at the very least) 20 minutes of preoccupied mini. The detective game is very similar except take photos of the "missing" friends and show to your detective before the search begins. Your mini can ask questions to gather clues that may help find friends hidden in tough places.
On sunny days, I move my work outdoors so that Nyaeli can play safely. Here are 6 outdoor games/activities that keep my toddler busy:
Yes! My husband and I recently watched Ben Stiller's gut busting movie Dodgeball and we created a toddler friendly version. Teach your toddler coordination by dodging the ball. Watch as your mini will run and retrieve the ball for you. Once you have all the balls, try to tag your kid with the ball. Keep score if you want but the best part of this game is that it tires kids out. Cheer your mini on as they tire those little legs out. Mom and Dad participate without moving from your lounge chairs. Whew!
Indoors or outdoors, Hide + Seek is a versatile game. I once saw a brother and sister playing a modified version of this game in Whole Foods. Depending where your game is held, the best hiding spots vary but here are the best hiding spots a toddler wont expect to find you:

Here are 5 Fun Things to Do Outside With Kids as a Family
🐝Watch out! Bees do NOT want to sting you but keep your distance and allow them to work. The work busy bees perform everyday is essential to our food supply. Kids should learn about what bees do and how they can help preserve the bee population. Start kiddo off with a video like this one
🌱I love my plants but never actually considered how they start from seeds. Just last year, I began saving seeds with the idea to plant them and raise indoors until strong enough to grow outdoors on their own. Nyaeli's favorite part of gardening is playing in dirt with her shovel and watering plants. Watch this video and together, you'll learn how a seed becomes a plant
⛺️Camping, even if its in your back yard or 8th floor balcony, is fun for the whole family. Keep a low light on if your little one is afraid of the dark. My toddler enjoyed our family sized tent until lights were out for bedtime. It may have been the tree shadows and wind noises but she complained about not being ready yet. Remember that you want to associate outdoors with good memories/feelings. If your kids are afraid, try something else. Perhaps they are not warmed up to the idea yet.
🐦I have yet to do this one with my tot yet however, this DIY blog for building a bird house and bird feeder may have convinced me to try bird watching. After hanging up your beautiful new bird condo, do some research. Find out what types of birds are native to your area and spot as many as you can. (Blog by Caryn Bailey)
🐚When the beach is open for exploring, take mini to the shore and find out who lives in shells. Every summer, we collect sea shells but after reading this book about shell dwellers, my mini understands that the pearly treasures she collects are actually vacant homes.
Learning how nature works will help your kids understand how what they do can impact other creatures and learn to cohabitate with them.
Did you try any of these 5 fun things to do outside? How do you enjoy the outdoors with your family?
]]>I am so excited to welcome baby Leila Robbie! Baby girl was born March 16, 2020!
I planned to take six months off for maternity leave however, with a combination of artist block and necessary COVID-19 precautions, I needed to get back to work much earlier than anticipated. More about our response to COVID-19.
So I took two months (not entirely) for maternity leave. I was able to do so with the help of a few different sleep training methods and mama's intuition. Leila is breast fed and formula fed; she weighed 11 pounds, 7 ounces at her 2 month doctor visit which places her above the average weights for babies her age. Whoever tells you skinny mothers can't have chunky babies has never read our story. Leila eats way more than her older sister Nyaeli. For the past week now, she sleeps through the night and only wakes when she realizes her pacifier is missing.
At almost 3 months, baby Leila enjoys her naps, staring at the ceiling fan, laughing at her big sister, and kicking her feet in the pool. What I most admire about being a mother of two is the magic shared between these new sisters. Nyaeli adores Leila and Leila is calmed by Nyaeli's loud craziness. I will be sure to write more about their sisterly bond as it develops.
And now for some cute photos

]]>Promoting Maternal Health Awareness Day is a start but you must learn how expectant women, mothers, and newborns are all at risk.
23rd of January 2020, New Jersey's annual Maternal Health Awareness Day is about raising awareness of important maternal health and safety issues and joining forces to reduce maternal mortality.
New Jersey is the first state in the nation to designate a day calling for action to raise public awareness about maternal health and promote maternal safety. Governor Phil Murphy issued a proclamation recognizing the day.
Despite advances in medical science and technology, deaths related to complications from pregnancy and childbirth are on the rise.
According to Acting Health Commissioner Christopher Rinn, “Every woman should have a healthy pregnancy and delivery and be assured that if problems arise, they will have the medical treatment and support they need.”
According to the World Health Organization, the United States ranks near the bottom in the number of women who die from pregnancy and childbirth complications. However in New Jersey, pregnant women and new mothers die at a rate above the national average, according to the United Health Foundation’s America’s Health Rankings.
Unfortunately, the New Jersey Maternal Mortality Case Review Team found that African-American women are five times as likely as white women to die from pregnancy-related complications.
The leading causes of pregnancy-related death include:
Factors that may contribute to maternal deaths include:
For more than 80 years New Jersey's team of experts reviews all maternal mortality cases. With this data, they can develop educational programs and recommendations for healthcare professionals and clinical practices.
The Department of Health provides a variety of programs in collaboration with other agencies, that focus on helping women stay healthy and prepare for healthy pregnancies. These programs include:
Improving Birth Outcomes Initiative formed to reduce preterm birth rates in the state and to ensure more newborns have a healthy start to life. They coordinate services and integrate care for women and families in high-risk communities. This provides access, screening and referrals for clients with the help of community health workers to provide useful information that will help future pregnancies.
In 2017, the New Jersey Perinatal Quality Collaborative received a federal grant to improve perinatal care.
The New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) is improving perinatal care by reducing severe pregnancy complications associated with high blood pressure and hemorrhage, and reducing racial/ethnic and geographic disparities.
Yes, the Postpartum Depression Program assists pregnant and postpartum women to with mental health treatment services. A toll-free Family Health Line (1-800-328-3838) is available 24/7. Includes trained counselors who refer women to a variety of resources.
Nutrition education is provided by SNAP-Ed’s “Eating Smart, Being Active,” a training program for pregnant women and new mothers.

From my personal experience, the hospital nurses were very resourceful to me, my husband, and our newborn. If you have any questions about what the hospital provides during your stay, call ahead and speak to the nursing staff. Remember you wont give birth in the same room where you will recover so the staff will change. Call to speak with both teams.

Entering the 3rd trimester of your pregnancy can feel exciting yet scary the closer to your due date. After my 1st baby, I realized I overpacked my hospital bag and didn't use or wear most of what I read was necessary. I don't want you to stress over those many lists that tell you what you absolutely need because honestly, its up to your preferences.
In my case, we raced to the hospital just before bedtime. I threw on sweats, my hair was in a bonnet and rollers. Plus we didn't have the budget for a beauty fairy like celebs do.
The hospital supplies you with a welcome kit of helpful items you will use during your stay. Yes, some moms actually give birth without their hospital bag!
You wont need to pack:

We stumbled on this beautiful book called 'Bunny's First Spring' in the library. Nyaeli and I read it over and over until the pages began to speak to me! The creative illustrations and sweet storyline inspired us to create a collection. That's right, Us! I designed while Nyaeli narrated the story again. She offered her opinions on each style like a pro Sr. Designer and I listened. Our other creators added their designs and presto! Before long, we had created an entire collection of lovely Spring outfits for your little ones.
I encourage you to read Bunny's First Spring; a bestselling picture book to your kiddo. Its a tale of a bunny born in Springtime and his 1st year living all the seasons. Nature reassures him that something magical is brewing just beneath the earth during winter. Pick up a copy at your local library or purchase one for yourself.

❣️Babies' tiny parts are easily frozen if not wearing the appropriate attire.
If you must take baby into freezing temps, ⚠PLEASE USE CAUTION ⚠
❣️I highly suggest you invest in a fleece lined stroller wrap. They cut down on wind while your little bug is snuggled inside
❣️Remember to remove layers when baby is indoors. If baby sweats, little one can catch a cold being outside again

]]>Today I am answering a question many parents (including myself once upon a time) want to know: How to dress baby for sleep?
As parents, we stress the importance of sleep. For ourselves, maybe not as much as we wished. Why is it so difficult to put my baby to sleep? Admit it, baby is no longer in the womb; that all inclusive resort where the best sleep happens and food falls from heaven. There are any other variables such health issues, sensitivity to sound and light, unfamiliar location, you don't smell like mommy, or day/night is not yet established. In my personal experience, my daughter wanted to be held all night. She was the Houdini of baby swaddles! Seconds after tightly wrapping her up in a cute, cozy cocoon, my newborn was flapping her arms and feet like a squid and whining for mama to swaddle her back up. I was terrible at swaddling. Read on to discover how I finally got baby to sleep on her own...
My experience was exhausting until I discovered sleep sacks for baby. Sleep sacks saved my sanity and baby's sleep. Sleep sacks are great for newborns who like to wiggle and ball up in their sleep like they do in the womb. Typically good for ages newborn to 9 months, sleep sacks look like clothes and do not unwrap. Ours are pretty stylish with vintage printed flowers and even a sweet forest themed one. Chose your favorite below:
As my daughter grew, she fully embraced her long legs and kicking ability. Soon we had her wearing snap up romper pajamas. Great thing is it's all one piece and you can even wear super cute ones like ours outdoors. Beware if baby learns to unsnap herself; she's toddling around with 2 extra flat legs trailing behind her! It makes for really cute pictures especially when baby learns to walk. Shop our favorite baby sleep romper here:
My daughter is almost 3 years old now and she wants to revert back to wearing her 18 month one-piece pajamas (not happening). So ever since she was 24 months, we lulled her to sleep in 2 pc pajama sets like this fierce cat print one. I love that she can wear this as a matching outfit for playdates as well as sleep time. Shop our leopard print 2 piece set here:
Let me know which style is your favorite. What sleep techniques worked best for you and your baby? Share in the comments below. Your experience could help a fellow struggling zombie parent. If you are a zombie parent, Im praying you get the sleep and support you need to be your best self.

]]>I stumbled on an article written by Becky of Mommy Takes 5 specifically about the importance for stay-at-home moms of getting dressed in the morning. I related to how she described the benefits of shedding your robe and slippers for what I like to call 'Roll Out Outfit' even if you don't need to leave the house.
If you could roll out of bed, roll into your clothes (makeup and shoes), and roll out the door, what would your "Roll Out Outfit" look like? I asked my girlfriends, amazing moms who so graciously sacrificed their precious time to help a sista out. I wanted these ladies to describe what their go-to outfit looks like when they're in a time crunch and here is what they shared:
Serena, a wife and mom of 2 young boys hails from Edgewater, New Jersey. Like so many moms, Serena juggles a lot (including babysitting my daughter from time to time). So when I interviewed her via text, I knew her focus was in other directions. Serena is such a thoughtful friend who has taught me to embrace my role as a mom unapologetically. She works in New York City as a fashion designer and when asked to describe her Roll Out Outfit, she simply stated
"Athleisure wear. Anything Black, grey, and/or white."
Add 15 minutes more, how would you use the time?
"Do my hair"
Looking for a sporty snow jacket? Check out Serena's designs here
Laine, raises her teenage daughter (a straight A student and cheerleader) in Wilmington, Delaware and strongly believes that keeping open communication with your children is the best parenting method. Like an older sister, Laine's tough, honest love makes her the perfect person to show me when I am wrong. She is a creative, intuitive, all around down to earth person. Laine dreams of recording celebrities as a music videographer.
"Hey I normally just wear a t-shirt jeans and a hoodie when I’m rushing"
If you had more time, how would you use it?
"I really have no time to myself but I guess if I did have an extra 20 minutes I would just probably iron my clothes. Some days are just go go go. I really don’t spend as much time on myself as I should"
Laine is dying to share her work with you all but she is currently working on new projects and will let me know so I can edit this statement once her projects go live.
Aliza, her husband, and son live in Long Island, New York. Physician Assistant Aliza loves to help people and finds great passion in making other people happy! As one of my newest mom friends; our children were born a week apart. She is very open minded, loves to go out and have a good time. If she is not out, she'd rather be cuddled up at home with her 3 year old and husband.
I asked her to describe her "Roll Out Outfit" and her response
"Always gym leggings. My Nikes and an oversized hoodie. Sometimes, Ill throw a jean jacket on top of that"
And if she had 30 minutes to spare she would
"Do my hair"
Aliza helps end childhood cancer and donates to St. Judes Hospital for Children
By this time in my interview, Nyaeli must be sick of hearing me say "wait 1 minute baby" and begins to crawl on my back. The cutest little distraction is part Spiderman! I digress...
Erika, a wife and mother of 2 just bought a home in Reading, Pennsylvania and is fully embracing her new homeowner status! Erika describes herself as a volleyball addict, foodie, and a lover of all things creative. I describe her as a loyal friend who I can always count on to bring the laughter and order the best tasting food on the menu! She was also at work during this brief interview.
When asked about her "Roll Out Outfit" Erika says
"I think it depends on if it's a work day or like errands. For work days, Ill wear sweater, jeans, and flats. On Errands, I wear leggings, sneaks, sweatshirt, or athletic leisure type shirt. Id try to wear the clothes that I have stuffed in my closet because I haven't had time to piece an outfit together"
"But if I had more time, I'd do makeup lol"
Erika is a natural wiz in the kitchen! Check out some of her comfort foods @simply_e15
Reyohna is a single mother raising a sassy kindergartener. She is a healthcare worker in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with dreams of becoming an Adolescent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Don't let her sweet voice fool you, Reyohna plays hard and works harder to transform her goals into reality. Like a younger sister to me, Reyohna shares her unique perspectives that allow me to think completely outside of my realm.
Her go to "Roll Out Outfit" is described as
"I either put on sweats or leggings...both with a tee and sweatshirt. For work, a pair of slacks and a nice shirt"
If you had 30 minutes more, how would you use it?
"Id make sure I was matching and had shoes on that look presentable. Id also check to make sure I didn't have any wrinkles. I might even do makeup"
Reyohna enjoys watching bitchy cat videos and is currently looking for an experienced Realtor in Philadelphia. If you know someone, comment below.
LaToya lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and 2 boys. She recently celebrated her college graduation! My fun loving friend has a poetic view on life and describes herself as a lifelong creative. She is the co founder of Autism Solace Inc, and also specializes in helping entrepreneurs strategize to activate their business goals at Creative Torch LLC.
This woman was blessed with an incredible imagination so when I asked her what she wears as a "Roll Out Outfit' I was tickled by her response
"Hey honey! Where is my destination?" How about a typical day? Map it out. "Ok, so the office, black slacks, solid top, and a cardigan with my ole faithful flats."
If you had 30 minutes more time, how would you use it?
"In the morning? Id probably use it for the snooze button in a perfect world but realistically, I would prepare for my evening. Fold a load of clothes or fully prep dinner"
LaToya educates communities with autistic children, helping to unite families at Autism Solace. Take a look at some of the incredible work they do!
I am a stay-at-home mom with a 2 year old daughter and another kid due in March. Most days I am in pajamas. When I need to leave for sales meetings, I always wear a dress. Even if I roll into it, wearing a dress makes me feel successful and confident.
My talent for fashion and love for gardening have finally become one dream come true in our latest Plant a Tree partnership with One Tree Planted. Together we plant a tree for every item purchased on ShoptheKei. Im very excited to share the launch of our sustainable fashion line which benefits women living in shelters!
Seems like the go to 'Roll Out Outfit' is described very similar across the board. Some type of athletic wear with sneakers for running errands. On days mom's need to step it up, no time results in possibly wrinkled clothes, messy hair, no makeup but a nice shirt and comfortable shoes. The honest truth, mom's don't have time unless they sacrifice sleep or chance a mistake while rushing to make time. If that sounds like you, then join the club!

Q: How fast can you deliver a dress?
A: Most of our holiday collection ships from the United States and therefore ship times are within 10 days. We rely on good ole USPS to deliver your packages. Once you order, the item is processed (generally within 2 days) and a tracking number is provided to you as soon as the label is created.
Q: Is red an over done trend for Christmas time?
A: Thats a great thought! Traditionally, red symbolizes a great deal of passion and spirit during a pretty drab and cold time. The color red represents warm feelings, love and fire! Yes, red is the color trend of the season but if you feel like you had enough of the red (we love standing out), then our team will curate a collection of less conventional holiday outfits for baby in our next article! Be on the look out for it.
Q: Besides shiny black shoes, what would you recommend goes nice with these plaid outfits?
A: Shiny black baby shoes are a holiday outfit staple. How are you break away from the norm! I'm kidding y'all. The latest baby shoe trends Im seeing in stores are bright gold leather and reindeer. If you want that high fashion look, chose the gold shoes but if you're all about that bass, go with the funky reindeer.

Just before the rain hits our side of town, I ran outside to show you my electric outfit of the day! Its my Mom OOTD because I don't want to look like Ive been hiding indoors with a toddler, singing nursery rhymes, while Nick Jr diminishes my adulthood.
On a dreary, wet day like today, this brightly flowing dress was exactly what I needed. Like a jolt of caffeine, the yellow is a wake up call amongst everyone else wearing blacks and browns. I like neutrals but this dress sings to me. If you're booed up with your toddler all day like me, you may forget just how much a hot mom you really are. For me, it was time to exfoliate myself from the cardigan + t-shirt combo and reintroduce myself to ME! I love this Mom OOTD because its sexy but not raunchy. The soft, sheer fabric is light but not see through.
Since its a little chilly out, I chose to wear this dress with black leggings + sleek combat boots. With the leopard print, this Mom OOTD makes me feel like a rockstar!
Mom style doesn't have to consist of the same 3 pieces everyday. Switch it up, surprise your kids, and wear that outfit you never thought you could pull off. Because you will surprise yourself with how great you really look. Try something new.

Celebrate + reminisce the moment you went into Labor Day 😍
Remember the whirlwind leading up to your bundle of love? 💞Thinking back on the day, I wanted to share my thoughts on this special day here in this
🌸Q: What were you in the middle of when your labor started?
♥️♥️♥️ A: I was watching The Dark Knight with hubby when contractions started
🌸Q: When did you know it was time?
♥️♥️♥️ A: Contractions felt stronger and more frequent so my doctor told me it was time to get to the hospital
🌸Q: How long were you in labor?
♥️♥️♥️ A: 12 hours! Sounds worse than it was since nurses encouraged me to sleep for 8 hours (which didn't happen). Come time to push, Nyaeli was born in less than 5 minutes!
🌸Q: A lot of celebrities who chose to be photographed in the hospital after labor have their stylists on board to make them look amazing. Did you do any post labor glamification?
♥️♥️♥️ A: No! LOL On the car ride to the hospital I wished I never took my twists out earlier that night. I didn't want any photos of me in the hospital. My mom tried to tame my wild hair but no such luck. So I was my natural wild self hah!
🌸Q: What do you remember most about the 1st moment you met your daughter face to face?
♥️♥️♥️ A: I wanted her on me right away. She stopped yelping and calmed down immediately after the nurse laid her on my chest. My husband's face was one of joy but his voice was like a giddy kid in a toy store. Guess I felt the same way. Her skin was powdery white and soft. Her body was long and tiny. She looked like a little angel. I know parents say it all the time but now Ive experienced what that means for myself.
🌸Q: Did your husband cut the umbilical cord?
♥️♥️♥️ A: No. The doctors asked him but my husband wanted to stay by my side. Robert performs surgeries almost every day and he absolutely loves it! I think he opted out of the cutting because the experience was so surreal to witness the moment from a personal standpoint. Maybe with baby #2 he will step up and make the cut
🌸Q: Speaking of baby #2, do you plan on having more children soon?
♥️♥️♥️ A: YES! Just one more. Date pending...
💕Care to share your labor day story? 💕
